5 Ways to Nourish Your Creative Soul

I've been having a creative lull recently, so I'm making efforts to tap into the creative currents that lie just beneath the day-to-day necessities. Getting in touch with your personal creative spark makes life feel so much richer and inspiring. Here's my suggestions - let me know what helps you feel alive and excited!

1. Make a collage. Save beautiful scraps of paper, magazines, hand-drawn art, and notes from loved one to decoupage a notebook or a card. You'll notice how many interesting, beautiful things are around you everyday, and you get to use Mod Podge!

2. Listen to new music. Ask your friends what they're listening to, or play that Discover Weekly playlist that the good people at Spotify make for you, week after week. Take it up a notch, and listen to new music on a bike ride.

3. Go hiking, and collect beautiful things. One might call the decorating scheme at our home, "Stuff-we-found-outside-chic" Here's a list of under-the-radar hikes around STL.

4. Cook food from a new cuisine. Dan and I went to San Francisco this month, and ate SO much delicious Asian food at restaurants. Now I'm trying to figure out how to cook it. Find a recipe with ingredients you don't normally buy, and explore an international food store.

5. Rearrange your furniture. Think this sounds lame? Well, then maybe it's not for you. Personally, it's a thrill. It literally gives you a different perspective on your daily habits and patterns.
